Unity is needed to heal our Nation

While many people in our country rejoice and celebrate the outcome of the presidential election, there is an almost equal number of people who vote was not cast for the winner. At this moment for them there is a feeling of anger, denial and disbelief.

We have to understand, their pain is real. They have been led to believe the defeat of their candidate will cause our country to sleep into chaos and destruction. That’s what they’ve been told and for them the perception of doom and gloom is real.

On the flip side, the voter who marked the X for President Elect Joe Biden now have a revigorated zeal of hope for our country and are relieved they will not have to suffer through four more years of what they witnessed and experienced in the last four years.

Those who seek the healing of our country must take this opportunity to extend an olive branch of love and compassion. We must actively show in action the empathy we have sought for the last four years. We may never be in agreement on policy, or an array of other issues. But one thing we can start with and convey to them is that we are all Americans, Blue, Red and everything in between.

We have more in common with each other than we do differences. We all want the best for our families and our country. For that reason, we should take the opportunity to engage those who are now disheartened and have meaningful dialogue about the future of our country. If you speak to ten people and only one responds positively, that is still progress. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Be patient, be kind and know your efforts are not in vain.

I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. I feel your feelings. My wisdom flows from the Highest Source. I salute that Source in you. Let us work together for unity and love.

In a nation of millions and a world of billions, the individual is still the first and basic agent of change.

Lyndon B. Johnson

The point in history at which we stand is full of promise and danger. The world will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity – or it will move apart.
